A self-taught sculptor, painter, designer and
manufacturer, Huebbe has for over 40 years established a
creative niche that has his work coveted for private collections
throughout the country as well as by some of the nation's most
prominent and exclusive home design retailers.
Huebbe's designs are by turns whimsical, invigorating and
respectful of American heritage. Often combining metal, wood and
resin in a new and unexpected ways, his work ranges from the
small, such as his celebrated monkey candlesticks , to the
large, ten-foot faux horn chandeliers that adorn the lobbies of
some of the nation's most unique hotels and lodges. Individually
designed, constructed and hand-finished, Huebbe's designs range
from the functional to the purely decorative.
Huebbe supplied all the famous decorative items in Macy's
famous Christmas wonderland one year. He designed the
commemorative coin for the 1964 world fair, the only coin ever
commissioned by New York State.
"Each design generates ideas for a dozen others, so there
is no end to the work," Huebbe says explain his prodigious
output. Even now, at age 70, Huebbe has retained his reputation
for an original and fertile imagination, and an enthusiastically
American approach to artistic design.
Collectors of
Huebbe's work will be gratified to find limited edition bronzes
and wood carvings available through the
Private Collection.
